A comedic legend passes

If you haven't heard already, Rodney Dangerfield passed away on Tuesday, at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 82.

Known for his bulging eyes, constantly yanking at his neck-tie, self-depricating humour ("I'm trying a new diet now. The diet is Viagra and prune juice. I tell ya, I don't know if I'm coming or going") and famous i-don't-get-no-respect trade-mark, Rodney had a very late and short-lived career.

Born in NY in 1921, he started comedy in his teens. Not able to make a go of it, he quite and became an aluminum-siding salesman. It wasn't until he was 40, that he decided to have another go at it. He was most notably a club-act, a true "comedian's comedian" and appeared a record 70 times on THE TONIGHT SHOW.

He only made a handful of movies, most of which disapeared into the nether regions of film history.

I always knew OF him, but didn't discover his brilliance until I saw CADDYSHACK...

A social commentary picture disguised as a slap-stick comedy, this movie truely is Bill Murray, Chevy Chase and of course Rodney, all at their very best.

Rodney is one of the best one-line comedians out there. He understands the set-up, punch-line better then anyone else. Check out his website for archives, video and past jokes...
